Call for volunteers
SLVYRA was founded in 1946 to promote sailboat racing from Quebec City to Kingston and Ottawa. Over these years we have seen many changes in the boats we sail but one thing that has never changed is the passion of sailors to get on the water to enjoy good friendships and competitive racing.
SLVYRA has many roles in supporting racing. Most notably, we manage the local PHRF handicap list of all boats in member clubs. We also produce a chart of the fixed racing marks used in many races, maintain and award classic trophies, support youth sailing through bursaries and coordinate the racing schedule of the clubs to ensure the season is well planned for maximum participation. All these functions are then promoted though our website and social media platforms.
Since 1946 there have been hard working and dedicate individuals willing to give a little extra to the community by serving on the Executive Committee of SLYVRA in one of key roles. The current portfolios include: President, Past President, Membership Coordinator, Treasurer, Handicapper, Scheduling, Youth, Marks and Buoys, Webmaster, Trophies and Media.
Each of these roles is not too burdensome, but all, working together, provides the necessary service to SLVYRA’s member clubs (and their members) to enhance our racing experience throughout our region.
With this in mind, we are calling for volunteers who wish to give a little time back to our community.
The positions to be filled for the 2021 season are:
